Pre-K Teacher / Facilitator
Location: Lotus School for Excellence
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $45,000 – $60,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
Start Date: Mid-August (2nd or 3rd week of August)
Job Summary
As we expand our public charter school community to welcome our youngest learners,Lotus
School for Excellence is seeking a passionate, nurturing, and highly skilled Pre-K Teacher /
Facilitator. Operating within our innovative charter framework, this individual will design and lead
a high-quality, play-based early childhood education program. The ideal candidate will deeply
understand early childhood milestones, blending structured foundational learning with child-led
exploration to ensure all students build a joyful, equitable foundation for kindergarten readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development & Instruction: Plan, implement, and facilitate
age-appropriate, play-based lesson plans that cover early literacy, foundational math
concepts (shapes, counting), science exploration, and social-emotional learning.
Classroom Facilitation & Safety: Maintain a safe, clean, inclusive, and highly
organized classroom environment that encourages student inquiry, independence, and
collaboration.
Developmental Progress Monitoring: Observe, assess, and document each child’s
social, emotional, and academic milestone progress using early childhood screening
tools.
Intervention & Collaboration: Identify student learning gaps or developmental needs
early; collaborate with the school’s student support teams, special education staff, and
K-12 faculty to ensure a smooth transition to Kindergarten.
Community & Family Engagement: Maintain open, proactive communication with
families in alignment with charter school community goals, including regular updates and
formal parent-teacher conferences.
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain accurate records regarding attendance,
developmental assessments, and health/safety protocols as required by state childcare
licensing bodies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Candidates must meet Colorado Department
of Early Childhood qualifications for an Early Childhood Teacher prior to serving as the
lead teacher in a Pre-K classroom.
Credentials & Certifications:
Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or a minimum of 12 credit hours
in Early Childhood Education/Child Development coursework required.
Note: While a traditional state K-12 teaching license is not required for this role,
candidates holding a valid state ECE certificate (Pre-K–3) are highly encouraged
to apply.
Condition of Employment
As a condition of employment, the individual selected for this position will be expected to complete the APS-sponsored Linguistically Diverse Educator (LDE) Certificate Program within the first three years of employment. New hires are expected to begin this program during the 2026-2027 school year.
Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience teaching or managing a classroom in
a licensed preschool, childcare center, or early childhood setting.
Clearances: Must successfully pass all state-mandated criminal background checks,
FBI fingerprinting, and child abuse clearances prior to the first day of employment
(mid-August).
Physical Demands: Ability to actively engage with young children, which includes
bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, and safely lifting up to 40 lbs.
