Position Summary:

Teacher is responsible for the English Language Development of each pupil in his or her responsibility and for working with students, parents, other teachers and staff toward achieving the goals set forth in the LSE Mission Statements.

 

Professional:

  • Organized classroom
  • Plan and implement the approved curriculum for specified content area
  • Demonstrate supplementary content knowledge by teaching an elective course related to core-subject course
  • Demonstrate exceptional instructional delivery
  • Model and foster independent thinking skills, creative problem solving and abstract reasoning
  • Show empathy and understanding of students

Communication:

  • Consistently and effectively communicate with students, parents and colleagues
  • Develops a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivity with parents and students
  • Assesses student performance frequently and objectively
  • Facilitate resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents
  • Promote accountability for students

Other Expectations:

  • Demonstrate experience in the instruction of students with varied learning styles and levels of mastery:
  • Support and understand the use of devices in a charter community
  • Create college prep engaging lessons for a variety of students
  • Knowledge of and adherence to approved communication pathways
  • Actively pursues professional development opportunities in specific content area
  • Participate in and contributes to programs and activities that enhance LSE outside of instructional hours
  • Follow policies established by the LSE Board of Directors, Aurora Public Schools, and Colorado State mandated school guidelines, except where LSE has received waivers
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Active Colorado Teaching License (Initial/Alt, Pro, or Nat’l) w/ ELD Endorsement
  • Bachelor's Degree in the specific content area
  • Expert-level written and oral English communication skills
  • Commitment to building an ELD curriculum
  • Entrepreneurial outlook and charter school commitment
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong self-starter; able to work with limited direction
  • Ability to apply superb judgment
  • Willing to work and excel in a very diverse student environment
  • CPR certification (LSE will provide necessary resources to become certified)

Preferred:     

  • Experience in teaching ELL/ELD
  • Charter school experience
  • Experience in reporting requirements
  • Experience in data analysis & data-driven instruction
