Position Summary:  The Varsity XC/Track Coach is responsible for implementing and initiating various aspects of the High School XC/Track program including, but not limited to, recruitment, scheduling, and coaching team members. 

 

Requirements and Experience:  Must be CHSAA certified and abide by all CHSAA rules, CPR/First Aid certified, as well as CDE certified to drive a 15 passenger activity bus. Must comply and pass Aurora Public School requirements for finger printing and background check.  At least one year of previous coaching experience at a similar competitive level is preferred.    

 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Assumes responsibilities for Varsity XC/Track Program.
  • Schedules practices and training session with the approval of the Athletic Director, and communicates the schedule to the Athletic Department.
  • Arranges and communicates travel for games, as well as drives team to and from destinations safely in order to receive full stipend.
  • Recruits student athletes and establishes a full team before the start of the season. Must maintain 7 eligible players for the entire season to receive full stipend.
  • Evaluates player skills and assigns team positions accordingly.
  • Manages and maintains XC/Track equipment and uniforms. Must take pre-season and post-season inventory in order to receive full stipend.
  • Attends all required department meetings, events, and fundraisers (must attend a minimum of 4 athletic fundraising events, 3 of which must be Bronco’s games). This includes end-of-season banquets, team dinners, or other team activities in order to receive full stipend. 
  • Fulfills all administrative tasks including student communication, parent communication, and scheduling necessary parent meetings (there must be at least three parent meetings scheduled throughout the season).
  • Represents LSE and the H.S. XC/Track program in a professional manner.
  • Promotes the development of the H.S. XC/Track Program by encouraging student and parent participation.
  • Verifies student athlete physical examination requirements, parent permission slips, and payment of required athletic fee.
  • Supervises athlete behavior, grades, and Eligibility.

 

Reports to: LSE Athletic Directors

 

Pay: Payment will range between $1750.00 and $3500.00 to be paid at the end of the season if all listed responsibilities and duties have been fulfilled, as determined by the Athletic Directors.
